The Keshen 41 well is located in Baicheng County, Xinjiang. It is a key pre-exploration well aimed at the ultra-deep layer and the search for replacement resources in the main gas supply area of the West-East Gas Pipeline by the Tarim Oilfield. The well encountered good oil and gas indications in the target layer, with the highest flame of the liquid-gas separator test reaching 15 meters, strongly confirming that the Kela Su structural belt at a depth of 7,500 meters and below is still a "rich mine" of natural gas. This marks another breakthrough in the exploration of ultra-deep oil and gas by the Tarim Oilfield.
"The successful production of the Keshen 41 well means that we have found a new 'battlefield' in the ultra-deep layer," said Nie Yanbo, Party Branch Secretary and Deputy Director of the Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology Research Institute of the Kela Oil and Gas Production Management Area of the Tarim Oilfield. The well is buried over 8,400 meters deep, with complex geological conditions and extremely difficult ground construction and production. To produce gas as soon as possible and provide more gas for the West-East Gas Pipeline, the Kela Oil and Gas Production Management Area adhered to the principle of "problem-oriented and efficiency-first", discussed each issue separately, and started the ground project in advance, putting the well into production 27 days ahead of schedule, with the production capacity release meeting expectations.
As one of the main gas fields of the West-East Gas Pipeline, the Keshen gas field mainly produces from 6,000 to 8,000 meters deep. In recent years, the Tarim Oilfield has continuously advanced into the deep earth, developing the ultra-deep blocks over 8,000 meters deep such as Keshen 9 and Keshen 31, and drilling 11 ultra-deep natural gas wells over 8,000 meters.
